We are so proud of the Miami Dolphin's as the fans watched, prayed, cheered and cried for joy!, in the stadium for the long awaited Dolphin VICTORY! You could feel the love & passion for the team the entire game.
There was sunshine on a cloudy day in South Florida, and it was brought courtesy of quarterback Cleo Lemon and relatively unknown wide receiver Greg Camarillo, who hooked up on a 64-yard touchdown pass with 8:14 left in overtime to lift the Dolphins to their first win of the season, 22-16, over the Baltimore Ravens, who lost their eighth in a row to drop to 4-10.
Miami did it with members of the 1972 Dolphins on hand for the 35th anniversary of their perfect 17-0 season, and put an end to all the speculation that this team would be the first to finish 0-16. Camarillo finished the day with three catches for 109 yards and the touchdown was the first of his two-year NFL career and Lemon was 23-of-39 for 315 yards.
Cam Cameron's comments: "Oh man. Did you guys feel the sigh come out of that locker room?" said Dolphins first-year Head Coach Cam Cameron in a hoarse voice at the start of his postgame press conference. "Obviously for our fans it's nice to give them something for all their effort this year and they were a big help obviously down toward the end of the game. And to the players, they're the ones putting in all the hard work as well as our coaching staff and the work ethic never stopped. I never doubted this win would come and I know it's easier said than done, and nothing comes easy for us, but let's tip our hat to our players."
Now it's on to New England for the 1-13 Dolphins as they will face the unbeaten Patriots next Sunday in Foxborough, Mass.......... Let's get them boys!
It was a nail biter...... as Miami could have won the game in regulation after taking a 16-13 lead on Jay Feely's 29-yard field goal with 1:56 left and the Ravens out of timeouts, but his kickoff went out of bounds, giving Baltimore the ball at its own 40. Rookie quarterback Troy Smith drove the Ravens all the way down to the Miami 1, where Devard Darling caught a 9-yard pass and rolled out of bounds, setting up 4 th-and-goal from inside the 1. Ravens head coach Brian Billick elected to play for overtime and had Matt Stover kick an 18-yard field goal, but Stover missed wide left from 44 yards in overtime, giving the Dolphins hope.
Miami took over at the 34 and Lorenzo Booker took the handoff and lost 3 yards and limped off the field. On 2 nd-and-13, Lemon scrambled for 5 yards to the 36, bringing up 3rd-and-8. Lemon connected with Camarillo as he came open on a crossing route and caught the ball in stride and then sprinted all the way into the end zone to end the game and whip the paid crowd of 70,287 into a frenzy.
Yes most fans lost their voice.... but it was well worth it! GO DOLPHINS!
